PATIENT OBLIGATIONS

  1. Patients must report health care professionals and nursing stuff about any drug that was prescribed to them, prior to hospital admission and should cooperate with doctors and nurses with honesty.
  2. For any given complain patients and their siblings should report hierarchically, through the established channels to the responsible and the Patients’ Communication Office of the Hospital.
  3. During visiting hours relatives and friends should not prolong their stay or congest the room, and should protect children from getting into close contact with sick people.
  4. Escorts to patients under special admission should take care of cleanliness, refrain from sitting on the beds, not place flowers into vases and store beverages, coffees and snacks inside the rooms, because they can become infectious sites.
  5. Escorts and visitors should stay quite, for the benefit of patients, who need a calm and peaceful environment.
  6. Patients should not carry on them precious items or large amount of money.
  7. Patients should be punctual on their scheduled appointments and should not wander outside their rooms, without prior consent.
  8. Patients should always carry their insurance booklet and should be able to provide doctors with all previous examination results (laboratory, imaging and biopsies etc).
  9. If you are fully insured or entitled to beneficiary hospital expenses will not be charged.
  10. If you are not insured you must pay the exact amount of hospital charges directly at the Accounts Office of the Hospital, which will issue a receipt.Direct payment to any given person and for whatever the reason is considered illegal and offensive to anybody working at the Hospital.
  11. Patients and escorts should provide all the necessary information, whenever they are asked to by the medical and nursing personnel.
  12. Smoking is strictly forbidden throughout the hospital.

PATIENT RIGHTS

  1. Every patient has the right to access hospital facilities, which are the most appropriate for his/her medical condition.
  2. Every patient has the right to be provided with the best medical support, with the appropriate respect, in accordance with his/her dignity. This care should not be restricted to only medical and nursing practice, but should include all paramedical services, including the appropriate sojourn, the decent handling, and the effective administrative and technical support.
  3. Every patient has the right to give his/her consent or to refuse any diagnostic or therapeutic intervention applied to him/her. In case of partial or total mental disability the above mentioned decisions should be made by the legally acting family member.
  4. Every patient has the right to be fully informed about his/her health status. The interest of the patient is decisive and depends on the accuracy of the information provided to him/her. Patient information should allow him/her to establish a full image of the medical, social and economic parameters of his/her state, so as to be capable of making his/her own decisions, regarding his/her present and future life.
  5. The patient or his/her representative has the right to be fully informed (in advance) about the dangers that might appear or ensue from unconventional or experimental therapies or diagnostic procedures. To precede with such a therapy/ diagnostic procedure the patient should be well informed and be of a mind with such a prospective. This consent could be called off at any given time.
  6. The patient should feel totally free on his/her decision and should be able to turn down any cooperation, regarding not only medical investigation, but also medical education. His/her consent is a privilege, that is dependant on his/her own free will, and could be turned down at any given time.
  7. Every patient has the right to protect, when possible, his/her own personal life. The privacy of all medical files and information obtained during his/her stay at the hospital should be a prerequisite and guaranteed.
  8. Every patient has the right to be respected, regardless of his/her religious or political beliefs.
  9. Every patient has the right to lodge a protest against every complaint and be informed of the actions taken and the resulting outcomes.
